Description
This original WWII German photograph captures a decommissioned Panzerkampfwagen VI, better known as the Panzerkampfwagen Tiger Ausf. E, or Tiger I for short. In the foreground's tall grass, we can see a deceased U.S. soldier once armed with an M1 Carbine. Interestingly, the photograph's reverse shows it was developed on October 9, 1944, by Welch Photo Company in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Combining this context with the subject matter of the image, we can discern the photograph was likely captured by a U.S. soldier during the Normandy campaign. The photograph measures 4.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches tall.

Condition Report
This photograph is in good condition; however, its paper has curled somewhat with age and there are some minor scratches to the surface. The photograph's reverse shows a handwritten misidentification of the tank as a "German Mark IV"; this is interesting because U.S. servicemen would often misidentify Panzerkampfwagen IVs as Tigers, but less so the other way around.
