Description
This is an original WWII U.S. rear seam swivel loop M-1 helmet shell. It was manufactured by Schlueter Manufacturing Co. of St. Louis, Missouri and exhibits a lot number of "471A", approximately dating its production to late-1944. The helmet retains its original olive drab factory finish, cork texture, and OD#7 (green) chinstraps with steel hardware and a T1 J-hook assembly. The front of the helmet shows evidence of a now-missing nametape, while the wearer's left side is rust stained, likely from laying on its side on a damp surface.
Provenance
Private Collection, Highland, Michigan
