Description
This original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner was produced by St. Clair Rubber Company of Marysville, Michigan. Its green painted interior showcases an embossed "SC", predating St. Clair's use of yellow painted manufacturer's markings. Remnants of its original non-painted steel rectangular washers, stationary leather chinstrap, and rayon suspension, approximately date the liner's production to mid-1942. The liner's exterior retains its original olive drab factory finish.
Provenance
Private Collection, Lenoir, North Carolina
Condition Report
This helmet liner is in fair, well used condition. In addition to its missing and damaged internal components, the liner is cracked and missing a section near the crown.
