Description

This is an original WWII U.S. M-1 helmet liner. It was produced by Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It features green painted steel A-washers and an OD#3 (khaki) suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. The suspension has recently been completed with an original Sun Shoe Manufacturing Co. headband and a Scholl Manufacturing Co. neckband. The liner's exterior retains its original olive drab factory finish, upon which "210" is marked - likely an old price applied by an Army surplus store.

Provenance

Private Collection, Woodsfield, Ohio

Excellent

This helmet liner is in very good, used condition; however, the A-washers exhibit rust and the headband's leather has stiffened somewhat near the wearer's forehead.
