Description
This original WWII "Windproof" lighter was produced by Zippo Manufacturing Co. in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The case markings are somewhat concealed underneath the original black crackle finish. Zippo manufactured two main varieties of black crackle finish lighters during the war. This particular example, with a three-barrel hinge, 14-hole chimney, rounded bottom, and "PAT. 2032695" insert stamp, denotes wartime production ranging from 1943 to 1945.
Provenance
Private Collection, Manorville, New York
Condition Report
The factory finish is heavily worn on one side; however, the hinge still opens and closes without issue. This lighter will require a flint and fluid to function.
