Description
This is an original WWII USAAF officer's service shirt, with epaulets. It is identified to Lieutenant Vincent J. Eichenseer. Unfortunately, many officers' records remain inaccessible to the public, as is the case with Lt. Eichenseer. It is constructed of a khaki cotton material. We could not locate a size marking but please refer to the Measurements section for more details. It retains its original USAAF shoulder sleeve insignia. Stitched beneath the collar is a label which reads "OFFICERS', REGULATION, MILITARY SHIRT, FORM FIT, SANFORIZED". Inscribed on the tail is a different serviceman's laundry number, "M-7705". A search of the National Archives unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive.
Provenance
Personal Collection of Chelius Carter
