Description

This is an original WWII U.S. Army Air Force Type B-4 Mae West life preserver vest, as worn by American paratroopers during the D-Day invasion. It was manufactured by Air Cruisers, Inc. of Belmar, New Jersey, and what makes it unique among the majority of those available is that it actually predates D-Day, with a production date of November 1943, making it ideal for the discerning collector. It is stenciled with the rank and surname of its original owner, "Lt. McLean". Additionally, it features inspection markings ranging from 1944 to 1946.
