Description

This is an original WWII U.S. Navy M-1 helmet liner. Painted around its circumference is an original yellow band, denoting use by a Hardmaster. The Hardmaster was a vital naval officer who coordinated the loading of troops and heavy armor onto amphibious landing craft at the "hard", a purpose-built concrete ramp constructed on the British shoreline in anticipation of D-Day. This helmet liner was produced by Seaman Paper Company of Chicago, Illinois. It features green painted steel A-washers and an OD#3 (khaki) suspension, approximately dating the liner's production from mid-1943 to mid-1944. It has recently been completed with an original A. & L. Seamon headband and a size 5 American Stay Co. neckband.
