Description
This is an original Korean War USMC camouflage M-1 helmet cover. It was manufactured by Blue Anchor Overall Co., Inc. on April 29, 1953. Interestingly, this cover's "Eagle, Globe & Anchor" stampings were either never applied or have faded beyond legibility. This, in combination with its foliage slits in just the crown, almost gives the cover the appearance of being a WWII-produced second pattern, but it is not. It features the distinctive double-chain center stitching on the beach side. It is displayed here on an Ingersoll Rand Products helmet (not included).
Provenance
Private Collection, Kensington, Maryland
Condition Report
This helmet cover is in good, combat used condition. Cuts for the helmet shell's chinstraps to pass through are present.
